The newly founded "Stockholm Graduate school in biophysics" is a joint program between the Karolinska Institute, the Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University. One of the goal is to give the students in Stockholm the opportunity to take advantage of the knowledge at each of these universities. Profs Astrid Gräslund , Gunnar von Heijne, Rudolf Ladenstein, Rudolf Rigler and Clas Blomberg are a few of the instigators to this program. The program is run by three graduate deans: Olle Edholm, Sofie Björling and me (Arne Elofsson)

As a part of this program in April 1997 we will organize a "Winter School in Biophysics" in the Swedish mountain regions. The theme for the 1997 winter school will be "Biophysical Aspects of Protein Folding". The 1997 Stockholm Biophysics will be held in the Swedish mountain regions during week 14 (April 1-4). There will be time for scientific discussions as well as for relaxing activities.

We hope that this winter school will give an opportunity to teach the graduated students, discuss interesting topics as well as enjoying the outdoor activities of the Swedish mountains.
